Brochure Design for Forde Abbey Gardens

Forde Abbey came to us with a request to produce and design a brochure to advertise their wedding venue.

The client kindly produced a PDF document as a brief to show what they wanted within the brochure. This was a luxury for the studio, as the majority of the time information from clients is ad-hoc.

From their prepared PDF rough run of the brochure, I could determine that they wanted an image-led brochure design.

I made the decision to pace the brochure slight differently from the client’s brief. From the respect that I wanted the lead page (which is always the right page) to hold the imagery, for maximum impact. This then allowed the left-hand page to be free for just text.

I wanted the main colourways for the brochure to be the Dark Blue for the outside, using the muted blue for the internal block colours. Then following this main principle for the text within.

Photography for brochure design is always the key, for any design for that matter. For this brochure design, the client provided excellent photographs from some of the past wedding’s that have taken place.

The client came back with very minimal amends which I always try to achieve and is always rewarding, as this means they like what they see.

The cover was changed to provide more impact for the setting and the offering. With an elegant and traditional logo with the coat of arms, I chose an equally elegant typeface. This complements and retains the overall premium feel of the brochure and illustrates that Forde Abbey is a high quality and an excellent wedding venue.
