Shop Signs for Thorncombe Village Shop

THE CLIENT

Thanks to the help of a few dedicated volunteers, Thorncombe Village Shop remains a vital hub of the community in the charming Dorset village of Thorncombe. 

Situated across the road from the parish church, the shop occupies premises which were purpose-built in the 1960s, to provide a retail outlet with accommodation above.

Originally a privately owned and run enterprise, the shop now supplies a whole range of amenities and wares for the village, as well as providing the Thorncombe residents with a local cafe.

THE BRIEF

The client made contact with the team here at Creative Solutions looking to upgrade the signage for the local village shop. The project would include designing and installing the main fascia display, window graphics, and a dry-wipe ACM panel which the shop could adjust and update with chalk markers.

There’s nothing more damaging for a local business than letting your shopfront signage become stale. If your displays look neglected, it sends the wrong message to your customers. A fresh makeover of your shop signage can be just the thing to give the external aesthetics of your store a much-needed shot in the arm. 

The fascia signage and window graphics should elevate your brand and represent the essence of your shop—and give an impression of the wares and services you’re providing. With a carefully chosen typeface and a high-quality print, Thorncombe Village Shop wanted the new signage to reflect their position as an important focal point in the community.

THE SOLUTION

For the main fascia sign, Creative Solutions provided a full-colour, self-adhesive print finished with a stunning matte laminate. The artwork was then applied to a 3mm ACM 0.3mm skin board, the dimensions of which measured 4600 x 340mm. The two-tone green colour scheme, coupled with the vintage, elegant font creates a classic look—one that embodies the shop’s historic status.

Taking the same design and logo used in the fascia sign, we also supplied the client with two window graphics. The artwork of which was printed onto gloss vinyl, backed in white, and applied to the inside of the window.

Finally, we also installed two full-colour, self-adhesive prints, with a premium dry-wipe surface, which was applied to 3mm ACM 0.3mm skin board. Importantly, the dry-wipe surface can be written on with chalk markers—a key feature for updating and amending displays. As with all our products of this type, the external surface comes with a 5-year guarantee.

For complete peace of mind, Creative Solutions took care of all aspects of the project; including the design of the artwork, printing, production and installation of the signage. Visually, the Thorncombe Village Shop has been given a new lease of life—the client was thrilled with the finished job.
