Window Manifestations are a legal requirement! Since 1995 it has been a legal requirement for all businesses and organisations providing a service to increase the accessibility of their premises by ensuring glazed and glass areas are fitted with manifestations to aid visibility and avoid injury. They look great too.
Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, it is a legal requirement that glass and glazed areas are made much more visible for the visually impaired by applying window manifestations. These glass manifestations are designed to be applied directly to the glass windows, doors and partitions to help stop people from walking into them and causing injury.
Your window manifestations can take on a host of different styles and patterns to suit your business, branding and space as long as they meet certain criteria. Click 'Read More' below to read on.
WHAT ARE WINDOW MANIFESTATIONS?
You will often see these in high-street shops, cafes, restaurants and any business that has large glass windows and doors on their property. Most commonly window manifestations take to form of small, frosted dots and shapes, but can also be made from logos, text and decorative patterns.
At their core, window manifestations enable glass to be clearly marked and much more visible, reducing the risk of injury from accidental collision.
WHAT ARE THE RULES AROUND WINDOW MANIFESTATIONS?
You can tailor your window manifestation, however, colour, size, design and placement must be all considered to meet the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) or DDA requirements.
Full-height glazing, glass, screens and windows need to have manifestations applied at two separate heights. The bottom must appear between 850-1000mm, and the upper at 1400 - 1600mm from the floor. If you are using your logo as the manifestation design, it should be at least 150mm from the floor, and repeated over large glass areas.
We have found two rows of 50-75mm white frosted dots on the glass at 1500mm and 800mm from the floor is a great place to start.
Glass doors need to be highly visible when open and closed. The door's leading edge should be clearly marked, and if part of a larger glazed area, the top and bottom of the door must be marked in high contrast at the top and bottom.
LOOKING FOR INSPIRATION?
Check out our gallery of images above for inspiration on how your glass manifestation can appear! We can custom create designs, custom print patterns and any brand colour you require.
Tailored to your branding and space, our frosted window manifestations can offer safety and reinforce branding in internal spaces. Great for any large glazed panelled areas.
Create a custom design in frosted vinyl to turn your logo icon into a highly visible pattern. Created and applied to comply with Disability Discrimination Act 1995 regulations.
Not only do window manifestations create safer environments, they are also a dual-action aid in creating private spaces, all whilst remaining on-brand and looking great.
