Printed Wallpaper, Signage & Banner Stands for Plaxica
Plaxica Printed Wallpaper, Signage and Exhibition Products
This company found us via the Internet when searching for printed wall graphics as the wanted printed wallpaper to go on their doors at their new testing facility in Redcar, Northeast England. The company Plaxica is a technology and licensing company focused on the production of next generation biopolymers and platform chemicals from renewable resources. Plaxica is planning to replace traditional polymers produced from oil, and replace them with eco-friendly polymers made from cellulosic based sugars, a by product of the agriculture and forestry operations.
Once they had contacted Chris in our sales team, he said that we could produce the graphics to go on the doors, and explained about the other printing services that we offer.
Plaxica: Company Overview
Plaxica is a technology and licensing company. Founded in 2008, Plaxica has offices in London, and a pilot plant facility at the Wilton Centre in Cleveland. We develop, demonstrate and design process plant for the production of the key intermediates for stereocomplex polylactic acid (PLA) - a biopolymer made from renewable materials. Our pilot plant is used to produce product samples and operating data to validate our design methods and to optimise our process for potential licensees. It is configured and sized to be scalable to a world scale plant using realistic scaling methods for the unit operations employed and is an integral part of our business. Plaxica Review of Creative Solutions Service
"Upon completion of our pilot plant at the Wilton Centre, it was important to ensure that our corporate identity could be seen throughout. It would have been easy for our "brand" to be lost in amongst the industrious nature of the plant. I had a vague idea of what we wanted in terms of signage etc, so I collaborated with Creative Solutions to produce a series of signs for the reception area and banners & wall art decals for the pilot plant. The result of which looks fantastic! The Team at CS supported me through inception & design to print & installation. I cannot fault the quality or efficiency of their work. They exceeded all of my expectations and surpassed themselves by making a 700 mile, roundtrip journey, from their offices to ours! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."

The Signage Job Overview
Plaxica ordered the printed wallpaper panels, wall mounted signage both internal and external signage and also ordered Banner stands for exhibition uses.
All the artwork for this signage job was carried out by in-hose design studio, we designed the banner stands and signage to the customers brief and proceeded with proofing and amendments as per the client’s requests.
Creative Solutions installation team installed the signage on site in the production facility to strict guidelines set by the facility owner.
Below are more details about the signage and exhibition products that were supplied and what the products were printed on.
Internal Signage
The internal signage that we supplied was for the reception / foyer area to give customers the information regarding the processes that ware being used in the production. The internal signs were full colour printed at 2880 dpi, to give a photo like print on premium gloss self adhesive vinyl, with a Matt UV Protective Laminate to guard against fading. These prints were then applied to Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) which is PVC board sandwiched between 0.3mm sheets of aluminium to give a perfect flat finish for the internal signs. This is the perfect product for internal signage as it is rigid, lightweight and very hardwearing. We drilled holes in the corners of the signs to allow the sign to be fixed up on our stainless steel locators.
External Signage
The external signage was a large version of the Plaxica Logo that was to direct people into the part of the building where the production facility operated. The external signage we supplied was full colour printed at 2880 dpi, to give a photo like print on premium gloss self adhesive vinyl, with a Matt UV Protective Laminate to guard against fading. These prints were then applied to Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) which is PVC board sandwiched between 0.3mm sheets of aluminium to give a perfect flat finish for the external signs. This is the perfect product for external signage as it is weather proof, rigid, lightweight and very hardwearing. We drilled holes in the corners of the signs; this was again fixed up on stainless steel locators.

Exhibition Banner Stands
Plaxica needed a way to present the idea for their eco-friendly plastic to potential investors and customers. To do this we decided to take the information we had used in the internal information signage and adapt it to fit the banner stands. They also included the production process for the product. The banner stand that they went for was the Imagine 800mm wide cassette banner stand. This was so they can change over the graohics easily if the graphic process needs changing. We printed the banner on our 240mic Opaque Opeljet media with a matt laminate applied. The print quality was 2880 dpi. This banner stand comes with a long manufacturers warranty. Plaxica decided to upgrade their stand to a fire-rated media of the same type.
The imagine banner stand was a very professional choice as it has a stylish design and proven reliability, quick cassette change and a telescopic banner stand pole.

Printed Wall Graphics / Printed Wallpaper
The idea here was to create printed wall graphics to give an eco friendly print to fit in with Plaxica’s eco friendly plastic. We also print with a Latex printer now which is far more eco friendly than solvent printers suing 60% less ink. We think this eco-friendly printing fits in with Plaxica’s ethos. We printed a stock image from their website large enough to be adhered to double doors. This was printed on our 5 – 7 year high quality self adhesive vinyl. The print quality was set at our usual 2880dpi to give photo like results. We applied a Matt laminate to protect the print from scratching and fading in sunlight.

Installation of Signage
We travelled to Redcar, Northeast England, We were required to sit through the necessary introductory videos to be allowed onto a chemical manufacturing site and wore the correct Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for fitting signs on this location which were, High-Vis Waistcoats, Hard Hats, Steel Toe-cap boots and goggles. For the Plaxica Job we were required to fix one sign externally, and 3 signs internally. This involved drilling brick and mortar, inserting Rawl Plugs and using Stainless steel sign locators to add a touch off class to the finish of the signage.
The second task was to adhere the printed wall graphics to the doors. This was done by using our permanent self-adhesive vinyl and applying the panels with the overlaps in the correct places so the wall graphic looked like one continuous graphic. This was trimmed by hand on site to allow windows and different levels to look as thought they were part of the printed graphic.
