New Custom Printed Signage for Cricket St Thomas Golf Club
THE CLIENT
Cricket St Thomas Golf Club
Cricket St. Thomas Golf Club is located off the A30 near Chard in Somerset. The club has over 80 years of history and provides members and visitors alike the chance to play on a beautiful parkland course with outstanding views across the surrounding countryside.
Cricket St Thomas has flourished into much more than a golf course in recent years. Following the purchase in 2014 the new owners made a decision to re-brand from the former 'Windwhistle' and the club now has a newly renovated bar, restaurant, conference and wedding facilities. Making CST Golf Club the premier golfing and events destination in Somerset, where everyone is welcome!
We worked with CSTGC last year updating their award acrylic plaque displays, and now it was time to update some of their wayfinding and display signage.
THE BRIEF
Directional Signage & Updated Displays
For this project, there were two signs on the site that would need updating, and another new sign to be created. To be able to see the signage placement and take accurate measurements for the replacement pieces, we conducted a site visit to speak with the Cricket St Thomas team and talk them through what we could create and design aspects they wanted to include.
When signage starts to look tired or off-brand, it can really effect visitor perceptions. Old, tired, dirty, and sometimes even dysfunctional signage that displays the wrong information, an old logo or a wrong contact number can adversely effect everything from visitor numbers, sales and brand perception.
New and/or improved signage sparks the interest and attention of both potential and existing customers as they either pass by your business, or are a regular visitors on site. Regulars will notice quite quickly if something has been updated for their benefit, deepening the trust they have for you and their perception of the business as a whole. Secondly, an improved sign may use better and more durable materials thus increasing the longevity of the signs and increasing how far your investment will last.
The largest of the 3 was the main wayfinding signage located at the entrance of the reception and welcoming area. This was cluttered, dated and since the business has moved some areas around, was no longer displaying the correct information. In this change-around, the Chapel was to be replaced with a fitness facility, and therefore needed a new sign on the exterior of the building, as well as over the door once inside.
THE SOLUTION
Better Business Signage
The main wayfinding signage, and the new external fitness sign are folded tray signs made of ACM. This material is a perfect alternative to traditional aluminium folded trays, is budget-friendly, long-lasting outdoors, and can be re-faced multiple times before the tray will need replacing. The directional signage display was mounted to the pre-existing wall fittings and cut to the same size as the old signage for a like-for-like replacement.
The new internal fitness sign above the door was created by removing the old 'Chapel' vinyl from the acrylic, and replacing this with a new printed skin with the new fitness centre logo and branding - a great way to recycle and reuse existing materials! This is then remounted using the existing sign fixings too for brilliant updated signage display.
Working with the Cricket St Thomas team is always a breeze. It was a pleasure to work with them on another signage update project, and we look forward to seeing what is next!
