THE BRIEF

Axminster Tools has undergone a complete brand overhaul in the last year or so, and we’ve been lucky enough to be at the head of numerous graphic design projects across multiple stores in the UK. With our history of providing great service and an unbeatable product, for high-quality retail signage, Axminster know they can rely on us.

Even by Axminster Tools’ standards, this was a large and comprehensive brief. They were looking for an extensive range of outdoor displays for their Nuneaton store.

As well printed banners and a variety of cut vinyl graphics for the store’s huge fascias, the client was also looking for three Flex-Face light box signs.

Flex-Face light box signs are a great choice for retailers looking for high-impact, large signage displays. They are most commonly found in retail parks and large commercial stores. The USP of the sign is that it can be illuminated with an internal backlight—in this case, LEDs. They are a modern, visually-dynamic signage display that are perfect for a large retailer like Axminster.

THE SOLUTION

First, we provided the client with three Flex-Face light box signs, which would be installed on the store’s large fascias. The signs consisted of a printed and laminated skin, featuring the company’s recognizable logo and branding, attached to a light box fascia frame. 

The overall size of the sign measured 11600mm by 1920mm and was supplied with all the required LEDs and drivers. The full impact of the display can be seen at night; the Axminster logo is beautifully illuminated and visible for miles!

Next we supplied the printed banner for the fixed roller shutter door; which measured 5380mm by 3900mm and weighed 555 grams per square-meter. The banner came with single stitched hems and eyelets for easy installation. As you can see from the images, the photographic quality of the print, even when expanded to that size, is flawless. There’s absolutely no drop in resolution.

We were also able to supply a selection of printed vinyl graphics for the store. A 3880mm by 5400mm print was created for the roller shutter door, while for the main fascia above the shop’s entrance, we supplied a large high-quality print on ACM board with a matte black finish. Due to the dimensions of this sign—40320mm by 1920mm—it was supplied in 14 sections.

Another ACM sign was created for the area above the Goods In entrance, again finished in matte black for a striking aesthetic. This display was installed in 5 separate sections.

Finally, we were able to install for the client their We Share Your Passion slogan in cut white vinyl lettering for the large matte black fascia. The combination of pristine white on black certainly makes a lasting impression.

All the signage was installed at Axminster Tools’ Nuneaton premises by our fitting team. Due to the sheer size of the job, we employed the services of our trusty Genie 65 cherry picker, for all those hard-to-reach areas! Another job well done for Axminster Tools.
