Outdoor Signage for Lyme Regis Bookshop

THE CLIENT

The Lyme Regis independent bookshop stocks a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as resources and maps for local walking and exploration of the world-renowned Jurassic Coast. There’s also an entire room dedicated to children’s books.

The bookshop has been a pillar of the local community for over four decades, and its current owners, Kevin and Jayne Ramage, have been looking after the shop since December 2020. THE BRIEF

The new owners of the bookshop got in touch with the team here at Creative Solutions, looking to update the shopfront signage of the book store. 

The client wanted a classic, vintage aesthetic for the fascia which would reflect the traditional nature of the store. For this affect, it was decided the best approach would be to use stand-off lettering, using a simple yet elegant typeface. With a sophisticated silver acrylic, combined with the stunning rich blue of the painted fascia panels, we could create the desired visual quality.

THE SOLUTION

Working from the client’s original brief and conception, the Creative studio were able to design and manufacture the stand-off lettering for the shopfront. 

For the main section of the fascia, we provided the LYME REGIS BOOKSHOP 5mm silver acrylic lettering, the finished size of which measured 2669 by 196mm. The signage came with snapfix fittings, creating a 16mm stand-off, and the letter template. The whole display was faced with M7-190 silver vinyl for an exquisite, high-quality finish. 

The same process was followed for the secondary section of the fascia; the BOOKSHOP 5mm acrylic lettering was installed using snapfix fittings and faced with silver vinyl. The overall size of this portion measured 1231 by 196mm.

The client was delighted with the service provided and the finished product itself. The entire design, manufacture and installation of the signage, at their Lyme Regis store, was completed by Creative Solutions. As you can see from the images, the brief was hit squarely on the head. We managed to create a timeless aesthetic for the shopfront, thanks to visual quality and impact of the stand-off lettering. Excellent job all round!
