Transforming a Campervan: A Retro 1970's Inspired Colour Change Wrap

When a client approached us with a vision to give their campervan a vibrant 1970s-inspired makeover, we knew this project would be a standout. After visiting our office to explore a vast selection of vinyl colour swatches, they shared their dream of wrapping the vehicle in bold colours reminiscent of the era—purples, oranges, and browns.

The final choice? Two eye-catching shades from Oracal Premium Wrapping Cast 970: a bright copper orange and a pearlescent lavender with an elegant blue-green colour shift.

Getting Ready For Installation

Once the materials were ordered, we scheduled the installation, allocating a full week to ensure every detail was executed to perfection. Our team began by carefully removing the campervan's awnings, windows, lights, and other removable components. This meticulous preparation gave us full access to all surfaces, ensuring clean lines and a durable finish for the wrap.

Next, we turned our attention to removing the manufacturer-fitted vinyl graphics. This step is crucial, as any residue or dirt left behind can compromise the adhesion of the new vinyl. The team meticulously cleaned the entire surface, preparing a flawless canvas for the colour change films.

Get Ready For A Showstopper

The installation itself was a true showcase of craftsmanship. Our skilled installers worked across the vehicle, starting with the copper orange vinyl before moving on to the lavender. Every panel was inspected for air bubbles, creases, and imperfections as the work progressed. This level of detail is what sets a professional installation apart, ensuring the wrap looks stunning from every angle.

Personal Touches

During the installation, the client got in touch with an additional request: could we add a name decal and their social media handle to the back of the campervan? Of course, we were happy to help!

Our in-house design team sourced a retro-inspired font that matched the 1970s aesthetic and created a custom graphic featuring the camper’s name, "Doris," and their handle, @dorisspectacular. The client was thrilled with the design, which we scaled, cut, and applied to the rear of the vehicle in a striking gloss white vinyl.
